Book Review: Joker in the Pack – An Irreverent View of Life at IIMs, by Ritesh Sharma and Neeraj Pahlajani
Joker in the Pack, is yet another book that I finished in quick succession. Really good book, a laugh a minute story, and gives a good insight onto the life at IIMs. Truly un-put-down able!!
The story is of a middle class gut called Shekar Verma, who starts narrating his tale from his engineering days in Delhi University. Verma then describes the scenes of how a middle class gut is raised and slammed based on his marks in his exams. He describes his love life in Engineering days and the run to the IIMs. Once, into it he describes the fast life in the IIMB. He does get into a bit of over detailing while he describes his Brittannia experience, but that too has been carefully handled and well script.
Shekar Verma then losses his girlfriend from DU (who is now in IIT Bombay) as both can’t keep in touch with each other because their busy lives. The book goes on to explain the relative grading and the placements experience of the author at the IIMs.
It’s my recommendation to all those who have completed their MBAs or are into one or planning for one, to go and read the book.
